User stories from around the world
The whole idea of the smpl mini display was to set data free and share with everyone in your home. And it is truly amazing to see how creative people are when using our device.
"Then the old analogue thermometers have been replaced. Really nice and damn flexible with flows."

"This is my latest project. Reading out the insane fuel prices of the closest stations, showing the number of traffic jams with the total length and a simple weather update."

"I'm a boat owner with a small sailboat in the nearby harbor. It is quite important to adjust your mooring lines when the sea level raises in the harbor. I have therefore built a small flow which displays the sea level, when the level is above 80cm. When the water level reaches more than 115 cm the bridges are flooded, and it becomes impossible getting on the boat. The display also shows winds speed from the weather station on the harbor."

"Installation and synchronization were without problems on an HP2023. Installed two different layouts that change every 5 minutes and created flows that stop updates at night and when everyone is away from home (to further extend battery life). Happy with it so far. "

"The main use of my display is to show the actual return supply from my solar panels. Shown here as -3751 W, all power delivered back to the grid. Even my wife thinks it's a nice number to know so we can use the washer or dryer at the right time. Other values are date, outside temperature, and sunset time. My display is in a prominent place in the living room and very close to my Homey Pro. I am very satisfied with my display, it works perfectly."

"I have placed my display on the fridge, and it shows the house's current power consumption (negative when solar panels produce power), the current pool temperature, the total electricity price today and the current spot price for electricity."

"Most days my display shows power consumption, solar panels, gas consumption and outside temperature. On days before waste collection, at 17.00, the outside temperature is replaced with a specific warning of the waste type to place the waste container at the curb. At 10:00 the next morning it switches back to the outside temperature again."

"I use my smpl display to show the current energy consumption, together with outside and inside temperature (from weather station and room thermostat respectively). The last field is a string variable showing electricity (kWh), gas (m3) and water consumption (ltr) since midnight. The numbers are formatted with HomeyScript. When the net power consumption is negative, a solar cell icon is displayed. It was somewhat cloudy when the picture was taken. When the car is charging (11 kW), a battery icon is displayed. Note that the sun was shining during the charging session, so I can run a bit on green energy. The power delivered to the car is subtracted from the daily consumption to monitor power delivered to the grid (when the car is not charging). Screen refresh is paused and resumed based on multiple smart triggers to save battery life."

"Some pictures of my displays: A weather version showing current weather data and rain prediction (a day without weather warnings). A second screen that is displayed via flow if weather warnings are present. My current screen showing: weather/temperature, current energy usage, current solar production, battery charge."

"Uses two displays mounted next to each other in vertical format. One shows the status of my solar energy system. During the day, it shows the status of the battery, the current produced power, and the total yield during the day, as well as the electricity price. After sunset, instead of focusing on battery status, it shows the future electricity price and current consumption. The second display is weather-focused, showing the temperature, wind speed and current rain amount from my weather station, as well as the amount of rain expected at my location within the next 8 hours."

"Tells us when to start the dishwasher and washing machine. Also shows the actual temperature from a Shelly unit with an outside temperature probe. My wife really likes it"

"Next to the door to the hallway the display is fixed to the wall. When entering the living room and walking to the kitchen, in the morning the display tells me how much power has been used in the night, the outside temperature, if there was any rain and if my plants are thirsty. In the evening the setup changes and shows me how much the solar panels generated, if I used more or less power than what was generated, outside and inside temperature. Really love the display!"

"At my house we have an electric gate, and we don't have a window that we can directly see if the gate is open or closed. With my smpl display I can now easily see what state it is in. And now that the electricity bill is so high, I can also get an overview of what we are using right now and whether my car is charging or not. This little device made mine and my wife's life so much easier!"

"This e-ink display from SMPL is quite handy and location-friendly. Entering Homey went well for me. You set up which parameters you want to display in a "layoutโ and choose layout with flow. Excited to see how long the batteries last."

"Normally skeptical of new start-up products like this one from SMPL. But oh well this works. Been running problem free now for 3 days. Gives a quick indication of today's "mode" Save electricity, drive carefully, remember winter shoes, turn on the interior heating in cars while brushing your teeth in the morning."
